Year 10 marks the senior year at Catholic Regional College North Keilor. It is a year aimed at strengthening students’ abilities and assisting them in planning for future pathways.

Year 10 students are challenged to focus on the character strength of ‘Leadership’. As the senior cohort, Year 10 students engage in social-emotional learning, exploring the concept of servant leadership, study skills, fear of failure, and change and transition.

Year 10 is a critical time as students navigate their way into young adulthood. Our students are supported as they look ahead and consider their choices in regards to future pathways. A range of programs and experiences are offered to assist students making their transition from Year 10 to the senior years and beyond. Through the introduction of the Year 10 subject, Industry and Enterprise, exposure to guest speakers, visits to universities and the opportunity to attend careers expos, students are exposed to a range of information and resources. In Semester 2, all Year 10 students undertake one week of work experience in an industry of their choice.

Academically, Year 10 students are offered the opportunity to challenge themselves by commencing their senior schooling early. A number of VCE and VET options are offered to students at this level. Year 10 students sit examinations at the end of each Semester in English, Humanities, Mathematics, Religious Education and Science.

As the senior students of the College Year 10 students are presented with a range of leadership opportunities including College Captains and Vice-Captains, Communications Captains and Communications Team, Liturgy Captain and Student Faith Team, Social Justice Captain and Social Justice Team, First Nations Ambassadors, House Captains, Performing Arts and Visual Arts Captains.

Opportunities for leadership and extension are also provided by assisting with junior sports teams and the Grade 5 After School program, joining the Ministry Band, or participating in events such as the Ignite Catholic Youth Conference.

To commemorate the end of their time at North Keilor the students conclude the year with a Formal Dinner and Graduation Mass.

Year 10 at North Keilor is a year where friendships strengthen, students challenge themselves and look ahead at the options for their future. We are very proud of the young men and women who graduate from North Keilor and go forward to undertake their final years of secondary schooling at CRC Sydenham.
