Teaching and Learning Update

Teaching and Learning Monday, 27 Sept 2021

Staff Planning Day on Monday, 4 October As mentioned under the Principal’s Update above, Monday, 4 October, has been designated as a Staff Planning Day.

SACCSS Sport and Premier League cancelled in Term 4

We have received notification from Sports Association of Catholic Co-educational Secondary Schools (SACCSS) Executive that the 2021 SACCSS Athletics Championships, all rescheduled SACCSS events, and Year 8 Premier League has been cancelled in Term 4 to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the SACCSS Community during these uncertain times.

Exception: SACCSS Chess and eSports competitions will be offered as online tournaments in Term 4.

Our staff are eagerly awaiting details of the State Government’s ‘roadmap’ out of lockdown and in particular when they might be able to teach their students in person. Irrespective of whether remote learning continues, or students return on campus, additional contingency planning/preparation for either online classes or reintegration into an on campus environment is required. Fingers crossed it is the latter! And soon!

There will be no lesson logs, rolls marked, or any requirement for students to undertake any formal work on Monday, 4/10. They may elect to use this time to prepare for the resumption of classes on Tuesday, 5 October, or use it as their last opportunity for a sleep-in.

Shout out to all our students

We would like to commend our students for continuing to draw upon the College’s Growth Habits of perseverance, personal responsibility and engagement, as well as one of our all-important core values – Resilience. It’s not always easy in these challenging times and some days are better than others, but something I hope our students will bear in mind long into the future is their ability and determination to show up and try their best – it is all we can ever ask of them and I hope they understand that ‘their best’ is good enough.
